"The Miracle Worker" by William Gibson, tells us the true life story of Helen Keller growing up. This play was based on true story of Helen Keller and how she grew up dealing with the loss of hearing and loss of eye sight. Annie Sullivan wants to help Helen, and teaches her the tool of language.
As soon as the play starts you can notice a that the family has some troubles with getting along. The father and the son can not talk to each other without yelling and screaming. Also, the father thinks that he knows everything and is always right. When the parents first see Helen, they think that she is a normal baby, but then they realize that Helen has blindness and deafness. When Helen got older they tired all sorts of ways to discipline her. The Keller's than decide to hire Annie Sullivan. When Annie Sullivan arrives, is ready to see Helen right away, and get start as fast as she can. The first night is a little rough for Mrs. Sullivan, and Helen gets made and doesn't listen to her. That night at the table for supper, Mrs. Sullivan tries to teach Helen to eat with a spoon, and that doesn't go as planed. Helen resists and punches Mrs. Sullivan. Mr Keller get mad and debates on if they should keep Annie or get ride of her.
While watching this play it reminds you how hard life can be and we take into consideration how good our lives are. They play also teaches us to overcome our problem and not resist them. We can get over them if you try, just like how Mrs. Sullivan taught Helen the tool of language.
